Obtaining a Marriage Certificate
NC Vital Records manages marriage certificates from 1962 forward.
Older certificates are available from the county Register of Deeds office where the marriage license was issued.
North Carolina requires a marriage license before marriage. Licenses are issued through local Register of Deeds offices, and the NC Judicial Branch provides additional information about marriage requirements and licensing.
Ordering options and fees are provided through the marriage certificate request page. A nonrefundable search fee applies for each three-year search period.
